In My Library

I have added something new and exciting to my blog. I now have an Amazon Store. This will continually be updated for a while at least. So far I have some books listed. These are books that I have read and can recommend or they are books that have been recommended to me and I am wanting to read them. A few authors so far that I have added are Elizabeth George, Elisabeth Elliot, Don Richardson, Andrew Murray, Bruce Olson plus more. As I find other things that are glorifying to God I may add them to my store.

When you go through my store and buy something within my store, I only get a percentage, up to 15%,  from Amazon. So browse and if you know of a book that you want to buy and I can recommend it, I will add it to my store. If you need recommendations or explanations of a book, please ask. I will try to fill you and continue to update as I am able. Thanks.

*Disclaimer* I believe it is important to read "circumspectly" everything that we read other than the Bible. I do not endorse EVERYTHING in each of these books. There are some things in some of them that I disagree on. There are actually very few books that I would totally be able to endorse everything in them. But I do believe that there are authors out there that can help us in our walk with God.

The Bible is the MOST EXCELLENT book to read. MOST of the time that we spend reading, should be in the WORD OF GOD. God bless you as you read circumspectly.

A Praise Report

In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 1 Thessalonians 5:18

My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptation; knowing this that the trying of your faith worketh patience . But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. James 1:2-4

We have not been sick for over 1.5 years, even soo minor as a cold. We have been soo well. But this past month, God has drawn back the hedge surrounding our family and allowed Satan to touch us with sickness. He allowed this for a reason. He allowed this to answer some of our prayers. He allowed this to show us more deeply his love for us.

Yes, we have been in the thick of sickness. My 3 children are in the middle of whooping cough and my husband got malaria and then overdosed on the medication to treat malaria. He was in the hospital twice in less than 12 hours. And he has been almost flat for over a week now. He felt like God allowed Satan to touch everything in his life, except me – his wife, at one time, so that God could show us more fully his love.

I have felt strength and grace from God like I have never felt before. I have felt so unaffected by weeks of interrupted sleep. I have felt so full that to "give thanks" even in this sickness has not been hard. To "count it all joy" has not been hard, because I feel the love of God surrounding me and giving me strength and grace for each moment.

I have also been reading an excellent book called The Antioch Factor -the hidden message in the book of Acts by Ross Paterson.

A quote from the book: "The secret then is not just to know the Scriptures or merely to experience the power of God. We have to walk in the power of God to energise our obedience to the Scriptures, and to know well the Scriptures that they may tell us where to go and what to do with the power."

I have felt/experienced the power of God in a new/real way. But it is not enough for me to just experience it. I need to walk in that power in obedience to the Scriptures.

My Yellow Patches

Anne over at Holy Experience has her Gratitude Community and Multitude Mondays. She is one of the many different people and ways that God has used in my life to get me counting the ways that He (GOD) loves me and gives me JOY. I am a negative person. I need to count the ways that JOY enter my life. I need to look for those small things that are God-given. So back in August of 2009 I began my "YELLOW PATCHES Journal. I associate the color YELLOW  with fun, laughter, JOY, bright sunshine, the sun’s ray as it breaks through the clouds. So these numerous blessings, that God showers so graciously upon me, but so often I fail to notice them, are the YELLOW PATCHES in the Quilt of my Life. My goal is to write at least 1 down a day. I have a writing journal that I have started my list in and I will continue to write them down there. Then every Monday, I will transfer my list from the previous week to my blog here.

This is the journal that my list has been started in. I love this journal.

Please come along for the ride. The ride to find JOY in our lives. Join the gratitude community over at Holy Experience or just comment here that you are beginning and where you will keep your list whether it is online (I loved the link) or in a written journal. You will be amazed that the many, many blessings that God showers down upon you that you have never noticed before. I was. God loves me with an abundance.

My online Yellow Patches list begins:

1. fresh, cool breeze

2. clean fresh smelling children

3. seeing dd #1 enjoy her doll that she got for stopping to suck her own thumb.

4. getting an unexpected treat of ice cream at Monaliza with my family

5. husband for putting new felt on the bottom of the dining room chairs

6. hubby for babysitting while I went to Women’s Fellowship

7. Women’s Fellowship was Spirit-filled. A connection that was unifying was so wonderful.
